Jes initially went to college to become a teacher with an art minor. However after finding it too restrictive, she switched to an art major at the Atlanta College of Art. In an early Figure Painting class, she learned how to mix colors to precisely match a model’s skin tone and through that experience, fell in love with colors, mixing colors and the power and passion that it represented.

After graduating, Jes provided decorative painting services in homes and worked in a Benjamin Moore paint store. In working with a local home painter, who happened to be color blind, she discovered that his clients truly needed guidance in choosing colors – something he could not provide. Jes fine tuned her skill of analyzing colors and visualizing their tones in various spaces. She has an innate sensitivity to colors, people and spaces, and combining all of those allows her to identify what can and cannot work in a particular space. To expand her skills, she studied color psychology and how people think and feel about colors.

Jes enjoys color theory and the idea of color healing. She hoped to pursue a master’s degree in color but could not find the particular vein of study that suited her interests. Instead, she found the International Association of Color Consultants (IACC-NA) through reading a book published by the association’s president. She changed her goal of obtaining a master’s and has since successfully completed the internationally recognized certification program offered through IACC-NA. During her years (2011-2013) on the board of the IACC-NA Jes became reconnected and with her fine art career, and began to devote her life pursuits back to her original love; painting for joy.

Currently, Jes can be found working in her studio in Decatur, GA. Referring to it as “splashing color around” her paintings have been described as bold, adventurous, free, colorful and skilled. Follow Jes on her facebook page, twitter account, YouTube channel or blog for up to date shows and events.
